Der Hungarian Half-bred ist eine große War horse-Rasse mit Standard-Handhabung. Er ist in der Wildnis und bei vorübergehenden Auftritten anzutreffen. Seine Handhabung bietet mäßige Reaktionsfähigkeit und Wendigkeit, während seine Größe und Gesundheit ihn für Kämpfe geeignet machen.
Die Rasse ist für ihre gute Gesundheit bekannt, erreicht jedoch nicht die Gesundheit und Ausdauer der stärkeren War horses. Seine Ausdauer, Geschwindigkeit und Beschleunigung sind durchschnittlich, wodurch er langsamer als für Geschwindigkeit gezüchtete Pferde ist. Er wird eher als robustes Reittier für den Kampf als für schnelles Reisen eingesetzt.
Gewöhnliche Hungarian Half-breds erscheinen mit den Fellfarben Flaxen Chestnut, Piebald Tobiano und Dapple Dark Gray. Die Variante Silver Dark Bay ist Old Boy, John Marstons Pferd während des größten Teils von 1899. Old Boy erscheint bei Horseshoe Overlook, nachdem Wölfe Johns früheres Pferd im Schnee von Ambarino töten, und Pinkertons töten ihn während "Red Dead Redemption".

- ◆John's mount in 1899, "Old Boy", is most likely a reference to the nickname that Edgar Ross gives John in Red Dead Redemption.
- ◆In the mission "Money Lending and Other Sins I", if the player enters Wróbel's barn, they can take his Dapple Dark Gray Hungarian Half-bred.
- ◆The Dapple Dark Gray coat can also be acquired from bounty hunters.
- ◆Benedict Allbright has a Dapple Dark Gray that will be taken during "Good, Honest, Snake Oil" if the player's horse is far enough away before approaching Allbright.
- ◆The Piebald Tobiano does not spawn in the wild and is not purchasable from stables. The horse only spawns as police mounts in settlements, in random NPC camps, in specific story missions (such as from Cornwall's men in "An Honest Mistake", and is intended to be commandeered in Van Horn after you return from Guarma). The horse occasionally spawns in Alden's third stagecoach robbery mission and Part 3 of "The Mercies of Knowledge", as well as in Bill's coach robbery mission.
- ◆The most consistent, and quick way to obtain the Tobiano is by going to Annesburg, and acquiring a bounty of $200-$300. Once this happens, lawmen will have a high chance to spawn with this kind of horse, and it can then be stolen.
- ◆In "Just a Social Call", the stagecoach near the end features four Hungarian Half-breds including two Flaxen Chestnuts, a Piebald Tobiano commandeered by Micah, and a Dark Dapple Gray commandeered by Dutch. The player is forced to ride one but cannot obtain any of these horses as they despawn at the end of the mission.
- ◆The Liver Chestnut Hungarian Half-bred was intended to be ridden by Alfredo Montez in Red Dead Online, but goes unused in the final game.
- ◆"Hungarian Half-bred" is an alternate name for the Nonius, which originated from a stallion of the same name who was half Thoroughbred or Norfolk Roadster and half Norman. Purebred Nonius, however, do not come in gray or any form of pinto. However, the "Hungarian Half-bred" could actually be the Kisber Felver, another half-bred horse breed from Hungary since they come in gray.
- ◆The Flaxen Chestnut features a blaze and four socks, in addition to a mane and tail that is not sun-bleached. When viewed close up, another face marking can erroneously be seen on top of the blaze.
- ◆The Piebald Tobiano features a star and snip and four socks. Notably, various pixelated texture artifacts can be seen across the body, and the inner nostril and lips are erroneously colored brown. However, it is noted that this texture likely originally belonged to a different, Missouri Fox Trotter horse as the compendium icon for them depicts this exact same pattern.
- ◆The Dapple Dark Gray is a graying horse with a mane and tail that is not sun-bleached, in addition to two socks.
- ◆The Silver Dark Bay is a silver bay with a sun-bleached mane and tail that features a stripe and snip with the white fur erroneously covering too much of the muzzle area. Furthermore, when the mane is lifted it up there is a very noticeable white line on the neck that cuts off awkwardly as a result of him sharing textures with a dun horse.
- ◆The unused Liver Chestnut appears to have been left unfinished, being more of a very strangely tinted blood bay with sooty characteristics on the back and rear, a ludicrously sun-bleached mane and tail, and a star and snip. There are also four red socks, which is an error as well because socks on a horse cannot be red.
