• ◆The real-world FN M1899 only had 14,400 models ever produced, making it extremely unlikely they would be available for sale commercially. However, the gun is in actuality modeled after the later improved M1900, but has some slight modelling differences (shown in the gallery).
• ◆Its overall size and frame is larger than the real-life M1899/M1900 pistols (which is small enough to be considered "pocket-sized") and has a reshaped grip and trigger guard probably to fit in players' and NPCs' hands (like with the Semi-Automatic Pistol).
• ◆The actual M1900 is a compact pistol that holds 7 rounds of .32 ACP; a cartridge less powerful than typical contemporary revolver chamberings. The in-game M1899 probably uses a more powerful cartridge fed by a longer magazine, based on its performance (with damage surpassing the Semi-Automatic).
• ◆This model of FN pistol proved very successful in China, where it was extensively copied in the early 20th-century and some resulting versions included upscaled and/or bigger caliber derivatives.
• ◆The player can acquire a second M1899 from the boastful dueler random encounter in Rhodes, if they already own one. It can be obtained by killing the guards outside of Angelo Bronte's Mansion, the drunken duelist and the fistfight challenge random encounters, Appleseed Timber workers, and the player may acquire an extra one from one of the guards at the Central Union Railroad Camp.
• ◆The dual-wielding reload animation for the M1899 is the exact same as the Semi-Automatic Pistol despite the latter's different cocking mechanism.
• ◆Both pistols also use similar firing sounds.
• ◆Like the previous game's High Power Pistol, the M1899 serves a role as a high-end new-age automatic firearm, also based on a design by John Browning.
