- ◆Cyril shares a head model with Grady Underwood, Coke Buckley, Tobias Finkelstein, Gus McCallum, Jeb Murphy, Herman Bishop, Roy Twaddle, Grant Briscoe, Virgil Scoggins.
- ◆His last name may be a reference to Melvin Purvis, a prominent FBI agent during the "Public Enemy" era known for his pursuit of many outlaws such as Lester Gillis ("Baby Face Nelson") and John Dillinger, as well as the killing of Charles "Pretty Boy" Floyd.
- ◆An article in the newspaper reveals that the doctor is embroiled in a scandal after charging gawkers to see a record-setting tapeworm he removed from the stomach of an 11-year-old girl. The girl's mother argues that the tapeworm, having gestated within the girl for nearly three years, is "tantamount to a biological granddaughter." As such, she believes that any money made by Purvis is actually hers, to which he responded: "There's only one true parasite in this whole charade."

Whether or not they actually practice phrenology (studying bumps on the head to identify mental disorders and personality traits) is unknown. What is known however, is that Cyril is not a fraud, unlike Francis.
- ◆Behind his house is a pen where two pigs and a stray dog is kept. Cyril is not a farmer and he never tends to the livestock so it is possible he has the pigs to study them or keeps them as pets.
