وُلدت Karen Jones في منتصف سبعينيات القرن التاسع عشر، وانضمت إلى Van der Linde gang قبل عام 1899، متبنية حياة الخارجين عن القانون فيها. بين عامي 1895 و1897، تساعد Arthur Morgan وJavier Escuella على سطو بنك في Tucson بولاية Arizona. تتنكر بزي راهبة، وتخفي أسلحة تحت ملابسها وتطلق النار على ركبة رجل خلال العملية. رباطة جأشها وإفراطها في الشرب وقدرتها على تقمص الأدوار تجعلها مفيدة في عمليات سطو العصابة وحياة المعسكر.
في Horseshoe Overlook، تركب Karen مع Arthur وUncle وTilly وMary-Beth إلى Valentine. تسخر من Molly O'Shea لتصرفها وكأنها أفضل من النساء الأخريات، ثم تدخل الفندق برفقة رجل وتحاول سرقته. يضربها قبل أن يتدخل Arthur. بعد عودة Sean MacGuire إلى المعسكر، تشرب Karen معه بإفراط خلال الاحتفال وتقضي الليل برفقته، لكن علاقتهما القصيرة سرعان ما تسوء. كما تبدأ في التخطيط لسرقة بنك Valentine.
