Baylock ist Micah Bells Pferd in Red Dead Redemption 2. Er ist ein Missouri Fox Trotter mit einem einzigartigen schwarzen Fell, blauen Augen, einer Blesse und weißen Stiefeln an allen vier Beinen. Als Race / Work horse klassifiziert, hat Baylock einen mittleren Körperbau und Standard-Handling.
Baylock hat eine Geschwindigkeit von 7, eine Beschleunigung von 5, Gesundheit von 5 und Ausdauer von 6. Er dient Micah das gesamte Jahr 1899 über als Reittier und begleitet die Van der Linde gang von Colter bis zu ihren späteren Lagern. Er ist im Lager zu sehen, wenn Micah anwesend ist.
Micah reitet Baylock bei Erkundungsausflügen, Raubüberfällen, Fluchten und den Ortswechseln der gang zwischen den Lagern. Baylock wird unruhig und kann steigen, wenn er gestört wird, und Donner erschreckt ihn, doch vor Schüssen scheut er nicht. Er bleibt Micahs Pferd während der Ereignisse in Beaver Hollow und trägt ihn anschließend fort, als er während "Red Dead Redemption" vor den Pinkertons flieht.
Wissenswertes
- ◆In the beta, Baylock originally had the same markings Dark Horse from Red Dead Redemption. However, his design was changed completely in order to make him more distinct: He was given blue eyes, an asymmetrical face pattern, and two front socks.
- ◆Baylock may have been named in reference to the 1976 film The Omen. In the film, a nanny named Mrs. Baylock is a disciple of Hell sent to watch over the child Damien, who is revealed to be the Antichrist.
- ◆If Baylock dies (which typically results in a game over), Micah will react with genuine shock, anger, and sadness.
- ◆In one instance, it is possible to kill Baylock without it resulting in a mission failure. Right after finishing Micah's coach robbery in Chapter 4, he will ride away on his horse. While Micah himself is invulnerable at this point, Arthur can throw dynamite or a fire bottle at him which will also result in a loss of honor and Micah running away on foot. Like with all mission characters, Baylock will simply respawn back at camp afterwards.
- ◆When carrying hay bales around the camp, Micah may tell Arthur to "make sure Baylock gets some" similar to Bill, Sean, and Hosea.
- ◆Baylock has a 'bald' face marking in the world of horses. 'Bald-faced' is another term for 'barefaced', meaning 'shameless, impudent, audacious'. This can be seen as a reflection of Micah's character throughout the narrative.
