Dolphins

Dolphins appear in the warm ocean as bottlenose dolphins, Tursiops truncatus. In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, they are marine background models found in large bodies of water alongside other sea life. Their model does not animate while swimming, so they remain still in the water. They cannot be interacted with in either game, and gunfire does not harm them. In Vice City, however, explosives can kill them.

Dolphins return in the Enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto V. They do not attack swimmers, unlike sharks, though they can approach someone wearing Scuba gear or operating a submersible. They are killable in Grand Theft Auto V. A Peyote Plant can also transform the player into a dolphin in the Enhanced version, allowing the animal to be played. Peyote Plants later bring the same possibility to Grand Theft Auto Online.

A pod of dolphins is visible in the opening moments of Grand Theft Auto VI's first trailer. The animals swim together in the warm ocean off the state of Leonida.
