Player notes

John Marston approaches the gazebo in Blackwater Plaza, where Mr. Philmore introduces himself as a supporter and representative of the Governor of West Elizabeth. Philmore explains that a gentleman has been speaking against the Governor in public. He asks Marston to persuade the Governor's opponent to reconsider his position, without resorting to an open confrontation.

Philmore gives Marston a packet of blackmail photographs and directs him to the nearby building. Marston takes the photographs there and finds Aldous Worthington, the man Philmore wants silenced. He presents the images to Worthington as the means of changing his political tune. The encounter gives Worthington a reason to stop attacking the Governor.

Marston leaves Worthington and returns to the gazebo in Blackwater Plaza. Mr. Philmore is waiting where they first met, and Marston reports back after confronting the rival politician.

Trivia

  • โ—†The player can view the three photos given by the unnamed man in their inventory. They show the Gossiper engaged in sexual positions with a prostitute, although both are fully clothed. Strangely however, Marston will say to the gossiper that the photos are of him "coming out of a fine place of not-much repute", when showing him the photographs.
  • โ—†During the initial cutscene, the animation for the man's hands and the match he's holding do not align. The flame from the match hovers in mid-air and is flicked without a corresponding arm movement after the man turns to talk to Marston.
  • โ—†The player cannot lose the photos after they have been given to Marston.
  • โ—†Despite Marston aiding and abetting a blackmailer, this mission has no honor penalty.
  • โ—†When wearing the Duster Coat in the cutscene where Marston gives the photos to the rival politician, it will have glitched physics.
  • โ—†The player may kill both Aldous Worthington and the Blackmailer without failing the mission. However, the player will lose honor and receive a bounty.
  • โ—†There is a glitch where the player completes the side-mission, but it does not count towards 100% completion. This results in the player being entirely unable to complete the game and earn the Bureau Uniform.
