Player notes

Arthur Morgan finds Dr. Alphonse Renaud sitting outside the Gray Woolen Mill in Rhodes. Renaud mistakes Arthur's greeting for a threat, apologises for an offence he cannot name and tries to leave. Arthur stops him and demands an explanation. The doctor admits that a gang has taken his wagon, along with the medical supplies he needs for his work.

As Arthur heads through Rhodes, a local tells him that the thieves have gone to Macomb's End. Arthur follows their trail to the ramshackle settlement, where the gang confronts him. He fights through the men around the buildings and finds Renaud's wagon waiting behind them. Arthur takes the reins and drives the recovered vehicle out of Macomb's End.

Men on horseback pursue the wagon near a crossroads, but Arthur deals with them and continues along the road to Rhodes. He brings the wagon back to Dr. Renaud outside the Gray Woolen Mill. Relieved to have his supplies back, Renaud gives Arthur a Special Health Cure Pamphlet.

Trivia

  • โ—†This title is taken from the phrase, "No good deed goes unpunished", which is a sardonic commentary on the frequency with which acts of kindness backfire on those who offer them.
  • โ—†Immediately after the opening cutscene when the player regains control of Arthur, Renaud's character model will be clipping through the crate.
  • โ—†Sometimes, there will be a mysterious NPC on a horse that attacks the player if they get too close. It is not possible to defend yourself, as doing so will result in the law being alerted and the mission failing.
  • โ—†If you lose a horse when delivering the wagon, Arthur will say out loud, "If the doctor asks, there was one horse when I found ya."
  • โ—†If Arthur has tuberculosis and does this mission during Chapter 6, Alphonse will say that he's sorry the health cure pamphlet can't help him in his predicament.
  • โ—†The wagon used by Dr. Renaud is a likely reference to a similar mode of transportation used by Dr. King Schultz and Django Freeman in the movie Django Unchained, and harks back to the one employed by 'Dr.' Nigel West Dickens in the first Red Dead Redemption.
