En su oficina de Blackwater, Professor Harold MacDougal le cuenta a John Marston que Nastas ha concertado una reunión con hombres de la banda de Dutch Van der Linde. El profesor cree que nativos, blancos, académicos y forajidos pueden hablar de sus diferencias. John no comparte su optimismo, pero acepta acompañar a MacDougal y a Nastas. Los tres salen de Blackwater a caballo rumbo a Bearclaw Camp.
De camino a Bearclaw Camp, un oso grizzly se cruza en la ruta. MacDougal dispara al animal, lo enfurece y obliga a John a matarlo. Tras el ataque, John sigue a MacDougal y Nastas por el campo. Llegan al campamento y se acercan a una cabaña, donde tres hombres de Dutch esperan para celebrar la reunión.
Los hombres desenfundan pese a los intentos de MacDougal de presentar la visita como un encuentro pacífico. Nastas les recuerda el acuerdo, pero Enepay lo llama traidor y le dispara en la cabeza. John mata a Enepay y a los otros pistoleros de la cabaña. Más miembros de la banda de Dutch atacan desde fuera, y John se abre paso mientras protege al profesor.
Con Nastas muerto, John escolta a MacDougal de regreso hacia Blackwater. Los hombres de Dutch los atacan dos veces durante el trayecto, pero John los rechaza en ambas ocasiones. MacDougal sobrevive al viaje y vuelve con John a su oficina de Blackwater.
Curiosidades
- ◆Sometimes the bear you encounter in this mission will use the model for Brumas the Bear (confirmed 360/PS3/Switch). However, the items from skinning this bear are those for a standard bear, not Brumas' special items.
- ◆If Nastas' corpse is looted the player will usually receive around 7 dollars.
- ◆Strangely, if the player shoots and kills Nastas's horse after he is killed, they will still fail the mission.
- ◆If the player has a pistol equipped before the meeting, John will pull his hand back on it in the cutscene as if he was cocking a revolver.
- ◆MacDougal and Nastas's horses are extremely fast in this mission, even faster than the American Standardbred and War Horse, making it hard to manually keep up with them.
- ◆This is one of the only times you see a character holding a gun in each hand, besides Marshal Johnson carrying a revolver in either hand much earlier in the game.
- ◆This is the only mission in which MacDougal will use his gun.
- ◆While at MacDougal's office, he mentions Lionel Fortisque, a fellow academic that MacDougal later assaults
