En Beecher's Hope, John encuentra a Jack practicando con un rifle. Corrige la postura de su hijo y le advierte que no tense la espalda, pues el arma dará un salto. Los lobos han estado atacando al ganado del rancho, así que John lleva a Jack y Rufus para ahuyentarlos. Padre e hijo montan a caballo, mientras Rufus parte de la finca tras el rastro de los animales.
Rufus guía a John y Jack hasta Tall Trees. Durante el trayecto, John piensa en que Uncle siga en el rancho y no logra comprender por qué Dios lo conserva con vida. Finalmente, Rufus localiza el olor de una manada. John y Jack se enfrentan a los lobos y los matan antes de que el perro vuelva a internarlos en el bosque.
Rufus encuentra otra manada en Tall Trees, y John y Jack lo siguen hasta ella. Acaban con los lobos que aún amenazan al ganado de Beecher's Hope. Cuando termina la cacería y la zona queda despejada, John, Jack y Rufus regresan a Beecher's Hope.

Curiosidades
- ◆In the opening cutscene, when Jack is practicing with the rifle, John gives him advice on how to improve his aim by telling him not to stiffen his back "because it'll make the rifle jump". It is the same advice given to John by Landon Ricketts in the mission "The Gunslinger's Tragedy".
- ◆When Jack is firing the Repeater Carbine, it is being operated correctly like its real life counterpart the Spencer Carbine. Unlike most lever actions like the Henry or Winchester, the hammer on the Spencer had to be manually cocked by hand in order to fire. During regular gameplay however, the weapon fires by simply operating the lever.
- ◆In a dialogue with Jack when following Rufus to the hunting spot, John says of Uncle, "God must've had some purpose for keeping him on this Earth, but I sure as hell don't know what that is." This could be foreshadowing at Uncle's eventual involvement in notifying John of the approaching Army in "The Last Enemy That Shall Be Destroyed". Were it not for Uncle's lookout, John may not have been ready and Abigail and Jack may not have been spared, giving some answer to John's questioning of why Uncle of all people is still alive.
