Arthur se reúne con Sadie Adler en Doyle's Tavern, en Saint Denis, para hablar del encarcelamiento de John Marston en Sisika Penitentiary. Sadie lo lleva a las afueras, donde conocen a Arturo Bullard, el piloto de globo al que ha contratado para vigilar la prisión. Bullard recibe a Arthur en su globo aerostático, pero se niega a llevar a Sadie porque considera que volar no es apropiado para una mujer. Arthur parte con Bullard y Sadie se queda en tierra.
Arthur regula la altura del globo mientras cruzan Lemoyne hasta Sisika Penitentiary. Desde el aire, revisa los campos de la prisión y ve a un hombre que cree que es John. Los guardias detectan el globo y abren fuego, por lo que Arthur y Bullard ascienden hasta quedar fuera de su alcance. En el viaje de vuelta, Bullard divisa a Sadie huyendo de unos O'Driscolls por Bluewater Marsh.
Arthur toma un rifle en el globo y dispara contra quienes persiguen a Sadie. Bullard recibe un disparo durante el tiroteo, luego otro, y cae de la cesta. Arthur dirige el globo sobre un puente, baja una cuerda para Sadie y la sube. Poco después se acaba el combustible y el globo se estrella en la orilla del Kamassa River.
Arthur y Sadie luchan contra los O'Driscolls que atacan desde la otra orilla y desde el bosque cercano. Cuando acaba con ellos, Arthur culpa a Sadie por la muerte de Bullard y por su persecución temeraria. Ella le pregunta si ha visto a John, y Arthur lo confirma. Sadie propone entrar en Sisika Penitentiary para liberarlo y le cuenta que Colm O'Driscoll ha sido capturado y condenado a la horca. Ella piensa asegurarse de que no escape.
Curiosidades
- ◆Despite the fact that the mission "Money Lending and Other Sins VII" can be completed before this one, Sadie will still say "Strauss is a bundle of nerves" as if he is still a member of the gang. However, since Sadie hasn't been back to the camp since the mission "Fleeting Joy", it makes sense that she wouldn't know Strauss had been kicked out by Arthur.
- ◆Due to Arthur's sickness becoming severe, going anywhere near the area where Sadie is after "Fleeting Joy" will trigger "A Fork in the Road".
- ◆However, near the end of "The Artist's Way III", Arthur can run into the bar where "Icarus and Friends" begins, but Sadie will not be present and Arthur will then suffer his coughing fit in the bar, prompting the other patrons to flee.
- ◆If Arthur is wearing any "fancy" hat (consisting of Legendary Animal hats, the Tricorn Hat, the Exotic Hat, one of the two helmets, etc.) during the balloon ride, Bullard will comment on it and jokingly say that he likes to "stand out in the clouds".
- ◆While ascending, Arturo recounts a story of a man who had "ran afowl" of a rotten oyster mid-flight, leading to a "harrowing experience" for all involved. In the previous mission "The New South", Dutch recounts how he came across Josiah Trelawny by chance in an outhouse in some random town, who greeted Dutch with surprise and then asked for some privacy due to having eaten a rotten oyster. Due to Trelawny's highly transitory nature, this has led to a fan theory that the man who Arturo mentioned was actually Trelawny himself.
- ◆When looking for John at the Penitentiary, his location will depend on which field the player examines first. For instance, if they search the field on the right, John will be in the one on the left.
- ◆If the player fails to pull Sadie up onto the balloon, she can be seen falling from the rope to her death.
- ◆After completion, the player can loot all of the O'Driscoll's bodies as they have a lesser chance of the law coming to investigate.
