Albert Cakes
John purchases a pre-cut house from the Blackwater lumberyard. Hearing the Skinner Brothers are in the area, John, Charles, and two hired guns bring the lumber home via the toolmaker at Manzanita Post.

John Marston va a Cakes Hardwood & Timber, en Blackwater, para ver a Albert Cakes y escoger una casa prefabricada para Beecher's Hope. Tras firmar la compra, encuentra la madera cargada en los carros. Charles Smith llega preocupado por los informes sobre los Skinner Brothers en la zona. Ha contratado a Mr. Wayne y Mr. Devon para que protejan el cargamento mientras consiguen las herramientas de construcción.
John viaja con Charles y los dos guardias hasta Manzanita Post. Wayne cree que una escolta armada ahuyentará a los forajidos, pero John le recuerda que también puede anunciar que transportan algo valioso. Allí, el fabricante de herramientas noruego Nils les entrega el equipo. El grupo emprende el camino por Tall Trees hacia Beecher's Hope con los carros de madera y las herramientas.
Los Skinner Brothers tienden una emboscada al convoy con flechas e hieren a Wayne en el hombro. John, Charles y Devon se cubren y rechazan el ataque, pero los Skinners se llevan a Wayne y la caja de herramientas. John sigue a Charles por el bosque y combate a más Skinners, entre ellos hombres ocultos en los árboles. Llegan demasiado tarde y hallan a Wayne atado a un árbol, muerto con una hoja clavada en la cara, y la caja a sus pies.
Charles libera el cadáver de Wayne y John recupera las herramientas. Ambos regresan con Devon y los carros antes de continuar hacia Beecher's Hope. Durante el viaje, Charles explica que los Skinners son asesinos que prefieren desplazarse de un sitio a otro antes que establecerse en un territorio. Uncle duerme cuando llegan. Curiosidades
- ◆Mr. Devon is seen carrying a Cattleman Revolver on his gun holster, but will use a Double-action Revolver instead during the ambush.
- ◆It is possible for the wagon horses to get killed by the Skinners during the skirmish. This will not fail the mission, though, as they will respawn after returning with Mr. Wayne's corpse.
- ◆As Mr. Wayne says that Nils and his fellows used to worship a god with a hammer, it is likely a reference to a Norse god named Thor, or possibly another god from the Nordic regions.
- ◆John will always have a longarm weapon equipped after the initial cutscene even if the player has started the mission without carrying one.
- ◆Uncle will appear in his orange shirt at the end of the mission instead of his white shirt. He is also seen carrying Sadie's Carbine Repeater.
- ◆After John purchases the house and signs his name, Cakes noticeably refers to him as "Mr. Martin". This could either mean that John used a second alias besides his "Jim Milton" one, or Cakes simply misread the name given his apparent absentmindedness.
- ◆The Skinner carrying Mr. Wayne is immune to damage and cannot be killed, making his death unavoidable.
