• ◆The Semi-Automatic Pistol's design is based on the Borchardt C-93 pistol first manufactured in 1893, it would later inspire the iconic Luger pistol.
• ◆The in-game appearance is modelled slightly incorrectly after its real life counterpart; the grip is angled (slightly more so than its Red Dead Redemption counterpart) and the trigger guard is elongated, compared to the real life C-93.
• ◆The Semi-Automatic Pistol is the only at-launch firearm (weapons such as the Evans repeater being an example of a weapon added after the game was launched) that must be bought from a gunsmith. Hence no character in the entire game except Arthur and John wield the pistol and no mission provides it to the player. The player can take only a worn variant of this gun in Angelo Bronte's Mansion from guards or from a KKK member during a random encounter near Valentine.
• ◆Though, unlike the Semi-Automatic Shotgun and Carcano Rifle, created prior to 1899, the Semi-Automatic pistol had an incredibly brief production run, was never adopted by any military, and saw almost no sales other than to German aristocrats; even the Mauser Pistol (C-96) could plausibly have been imported given how the pistol was incredibly popular world-wide. Hence it is unlikely any C-93s ever made it to the Old West.
• ◆The Semi-Automatic Pistol's catalogue description alludes to it being adopted militaries for trench warfare; in reality the C-93 was roundly rejected by virtually every military because, among other issues, it was highly delicate.
• ◆The catalogue page notes that the Semi-Automatic Pistol was introduced in 1898. This is possibly analoguous to the real-life Borchardt-Luger pistol prototypes; Georg Luger's design changes to the C-93 which later evolved into the Luger pistol,
• ◆It also claims to be in .44 caliber, although Borchardt-design pistols were only in 7.65mm (cal. .30).
