About this weapon
The Semi-Automatic Pistol is a Peeters & Janssens pistol in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online. It carries eight rounds of Pistol Ammo, with a maximum ammunition reserve of 100. In the story, it costs $210 from the gunsmiths in Valentine and Saint Denis after "The Joys of Civilization" in Chapter 4. In Red Dead Online, it becomes available at Rank 22.
It trades stopping power for speed. Its damage is lower than that of revolver sidearms and is the lowest of any firearm, but it does not require manual cocking between shots. The pistol has the fastest fire rate in the game, fairly high accuracy, an eight-round magazine that exceeds most sidearms, and a very quick magazine reload.
The weapon is used for rapid pistol fire when sustained shots and quick reloads matter more than damage per round. Its self-loading action lets Arthur Morgan or the online protagonist keep firing without working a hammer after each shot, while its larger magazine reduces the need to reload as often as with most revolvers.

- โThe Semi-Automatic Pistol's design is based on the Borchardt C-93 pistol first manufactured in 1893, it would later inspire the iconic Luger pistol.
- โThe in-game appearance is modelled slightly incorrectly after its real life counterpart; the grip is angled (slightly more so than its Red Dead Redemption counterpart) and the trigger guard is elongated, compared to the real life C-93.
- โThe Semi-Automatic Pistol is the only at-launch firearm (weapons such as the Evans repeater being an example of a weapon added after the game was launched) that must be bought from a gunsmith. Hence no character in the entire game except Arthur and John wield the pistol and no mission provides it to the player. The player can take only a worn variant of this gun in Angelo Bronte's Mansion from guards or from a KKK member during a random encounter near Valentine.
- โThough, unlike the Semi-Automatic Shotgun and Carcano Rifle, created prior to 1899, the Semi-Automatic pistol had an incredibly brief production run, was never adopted by any military, and saw almost no sales other than to German aristocrats; even the Mauser Pistol (C-96) could plausibly have been imported given how the pistol was incredibly popular world-wide. Hence it is unlikely any C-93s ever made it to the Old West.
