Jasper Feeney держит оружейную лавку в Rhodes, в районе Scarlett Meadows штата Lemoyne. До 1899 года он учит сына, Sammy, держать винтовку. Отдача отбрасывает мальчика в ближайшую реку, и течение уносит его прочь. Jasper несколько дней ищет сына вдоль берега, но ничего не находит.
