Player notes

Jasper Feeney runs the gunsmith in Rhodes, Scarlett Meadows, Lemoyne. Before 1899, he teaches his son Sammy how to hold a rifle. The weapon's recoil throws the boy into a nearby river, where the rapids carry him away. Jasper searches the riverbank for days without finding him. People in Rhodes say that the loss changes him, and he continues operating the shop while carrying the grief of Sammy's disappearance.

In 1899, a young man in a sailor suit is visible through the barred basement window of the Rhodes Gunsmith. He says Jasper has kidnapped him. When Arthur Morgan confronts Jasper during a robbery, the gunsmith offers explanations for the captive, including that he is Jasper's son and has been shut in for stealing candy. Held at gunpoint, Jasper leads Arthur into the basement.

Arthur shoots the chain holding the young man. Jasper admits that he abducted him because he resembles Sammy, and accepts that what he has done is wrong. He becomes withdrawn and no longer resists as Arthur searches the basement and takes what he finds. Jasper still turns hostile if Arthur attacks him. The gunsmith remains in Rhodes after the captive is freed.

  • โ—†When robbing his store, Feeney will attack the player using a Cattleman Revolver.
  • โ—†His store's sign states his name as 'Jas. Feeney'. However, occasionally when robbing him, he will reveal his first name as Jasper.
  • โ—†Several graves of people with his last name can be found at the cemetery.
  • โ—†When returning to his store as Arthur or John following the robbery mission, assuming said robbery was performed by the same player character, Feeney will always refer to them as a thief, even if the player chose not to loot the gun case or anything else in the basement and had simply left. However, it is possible he may be referring to the player "stealing" the kidnapped boy from him instead.
  • โ—†The boy locked in his basement, Nate Davison, and Bob Crawford Jr. are the only youngsters in the game who can be harmed and murdered by the player. All other youngsters and teenagers, most infamously the Saint Denis street urchins, are impossible to kill or harm, no matter the weaponry used against them.
  • โ—†Should the player kill Feeney's prisoner, Feeney will either drop to his knees and break down in tears or shoot at him with his revolver.
