يرسل Cletus Ewing رسالة نصية إلى Trevor Philips ويطلب منه الحضور إلى Bayview Lodge في Paleto Forest. يلتقيه Trevor عند النزل، حيث يستعد Cletus لصيد الأيائل. يعطي Trevor نداء غزلان ويأخذه بعيداً عن الطريق إلى داخل الغابة، بادئاً درساً في تعقب الطرائد.
يتبع Trevor، Cletus عبر Paleto Forest بينما يشرح Cletus كيف يمكن للرياح أن تحمل رائحة الصياد إلى أيل. كما يري Trevor كيف يمكن لنداء الغزلان استدراج الحيوانات القريبة، ويحذره من إطلاق النار على الغزلان عديمة القرون، فهي إناث. يقوده Cletus إلى الأيل الأول، فيقتله Trevor من دون تنبيه الحيوان. ثم يستخدم Trevor النداء وأساليب الصيد نفسها لاصطياد أيل ثان وثالث.
يرحل Cletus بعد الصيد الثالث، لكنه يطلب من Trevor العثور على أيل آخر وإرسال صورة لجثته. يستدعي Trevor حيواناً آخر بالنداء، ويقتله، ثم يقترب من الجثة ويلتقط الصورة. ما إن تصل الصورة إلى Cletus حتى يتصل بـ Trevor ويقترح عليه مواصلة الصيد وإرسال الصور إليه كي يتمكن من بيع اللحم. يقول Trevor إن لديه أموراً أخرى يتعين عليه التعامل معها، لكنه سيأخذ الأمر في الاعتبار.

- ◆Completing this optional side mission unlocks the sniper rifle at Ammu-Nation. If the mission is not completed, Trevor has to complete Nervous Ron and Trevor Philips Industries before gaining access to the weapon.
- ◆The game assumes that the player has a general understanding of hunting as it never explicitly tells the player to aim for the heart, although Cletus is shown to be impressed with heart shots which may somewhat act as an indicator.
- ◆This is the final physical appearance of Cletus, who will only return via text messages during Hunting or upon completing Caida Libre.
- ◆A cougar can spawn when Cletus is guiding you into the forest, and can attack and kill you, resulting in a mission failure. Occasionally, a cougar may also be seen prowling and chasing NPC characters at the lodge when Trevor pulls up. Approaching Cletus and triggering the initial cutscene prevents the cougar from attacking.
