Der American Paint ist ein kleines Work Horse mit Standard-Handling. Sein robuster Körperbau und seine gemusterten Fellfarben passen zu seiner Rolle als Ranchpferd, während sein Temperament, seine Intelligenz und seine Arbeitswilligkeit ihn pflegeleicht machen. Er verfügt über eine hohe Ausdauer, durchschnittliche Gesundheit und Geschwindigkeit sowie eine niedrigere Beschleunigung als bei seinen anderen Attributen. Sein Handling bietet mäßige Wendigkeit und Reaktionsfähigkeit, wodurch er eher zu den leistungsfähigeren Work Horses als zu den schnellsten Startern zählt.
Overo- und Tobiano-American Paints erscheinen in wilden Herden, unter anderem bei Donner Falls in Ambarino und in ganz New Austin. Tobiano-Pferde stehen außerdem bei Chez Porter angebunden, und beide Fellfarben können bei Gesetzeshütern auftauchen. Splashed White-American Paints kommen nur in NPC-Lagern vor, die von feindseligen Charakteren bewacht werden. Der Grey Overo ist im Tumbleweed Stable erhältlich. Die Rasse erscheint in den Fellfarben Overo, Tobiano, Splashed White und Grey Overo.
American Paints werden für Rancharbeit, als Reittiere von Gesetzeshütern sowie als Pferde in Lagern und der Wildnis eingesetzt. Javier Escuella reitet 1899 einen Grey Overo namens Boaz, der auch im Lager der Gang zu sehen ist. Eagle Flies reitet in "American Fathers II" und "A Rage Unleashed" eine namenlose, einzigartige American Paint-Stute mit einer palominofarbenen Variante der Fellfarbe Splashed White. Wird sie erworben, verändert sich ihr Aussehen zu dem eines gewöhnlichen Pferdes.
Wissenswertes
- ◆The second trailer for the game showed Arthur riding a Bay Overo American Paint with a texture that doesn't appear anywhere in the final game, though the markings appear on the compendium image. Subsequently, the texture for this horse was completely removed from the files before release.
- ◆There also exists a black variation of this paint ridden by a lawman in the Official Gameplay Trailer.
- ◆In "Exit, Pursued by a Bruised Ego" the papers that Arthur receives for his new horse are for an American Paint, regardless of which horse he purchases. The document also depicts Arthur's original Bay Overo American Paint.
- ◆The Overo American Paint can be easily obtained through lawmen in Emerald Ranch who have a higher chance to spawn this coat more than any other lawmen from other regions.
- ◆Contrary to the Compendium, the regular Splashed White coat cannot be located in the wild, and is instead only found at NPC camps. There is no other way to obtain this horse without cheats or exploits.
- ◆Four Overo American Paints are seen being owned by the Gray family during "The Course of True Love III", but none are seen in their stables or otherwise outside of this mission.
- ◆The Gray Overo is a frame overo with four socks and a bald face undergoing the greying process. It is unclear what color the horse was originally, though it can be considered erroneous that the horse has not grayed out at all by the Epilogue.
- ◆The Overo is a frame overo palomino with four socks and a bald face, in addition to blue eyes and a mane and tail that has not been bleached by the sun.
- ◆The Splashed White is an overo with a black base color and blue eyes.
- ◆Eagle Flies' horse is identical to the Splashed White, albeit with a palomino base color and a white mane and tail that has not been bleached by the sun.
- ◆The Tobiano would be considered a blood bay with four socks and a star and stripe, and a mane and tail that has been sun-bleached.
