Der Ardennes ist eine große Kriegspferderasse in Red Dead Redemption 2, die auf Pferden aus der Ardennenregion Frankreichs, Belgiens und Luxemburgs basiert. Er gehört zu den schwersten Rassen im Spiel. Sein Körperbau zeichnet sich durch einen massigen Körper, einen breiten Kopf und dichte Fesselbehaarung an den Unterschenkeln aus.
Ardennes-Pferde verfügen in ihrer Klasse über hohe Gesundheit und Ausdauer, während ihre Geschwindigkeit und Beschleunigung niedrig oder durchschnittlich sind. Die Standard-Handhabung verleiht ihnen trotz ihres Gewichts und ihrer Größe eine moderate Wendigkeit und Reaktionsfähigkeit. Sie sind als Kriegspferde gezüchtet, wobei Ausdauer und Widerstandsfähigkeit Vorrang vor schneller Fortbewegung haben.
Der gewöhnliche Ardennes ist in den Fellfarben Strawberry Roan und Bay Roan erhältlich, wobei bestimmte Fellfarben gekauft werden können. Der Iron Grey Roan ist eine besondere Variante. Bill Williamson reitet während des gesamten Jahres 1899 den einzigen Brown Roan Ardennes, Brown Jack. Ein einzigartiger War Horse Ardennes ist im Stall für jene erhältlich, die Red Dead Redemption 2 vorbestellt haben, und besitzt dieselben Werte wie der Strawberry Roan.

- ◆Once stabled, the War Horse cannot be sold. If the player bonds with two horses while the horse is not in the stable, or the horse dies, the player will no longer have ownership of the War Horse and they will have to buy the horse again from the stable.
- ◆All Ardennes including the War Horse can be spawned (even in the Standard Edition of the game) via the cheat code "You are a beast built for war" or "You want something new". The player can save all of them except for the Brown Roan using a glitch that involves the mission "Angelo Bronte, A Man of Honor".
- ◆The Strawberry Roan is a chestnut base roan featuring a star and reverse dappling.
- ◆The Bay Roan is a silver bay with white hair that has not been bleached by the sun, in addition to a star and stripe.
