State of Leonida

The State of Leonida is a U.S. state and the setting of Grand Theft Auto VI. It is based on Florida, with some topographical influence from Georgia. Leonida is associated with warm, sunny weather, beach resorts, amusement parks and boating, and it hosts the world's busiest port. Its northern boundary follows Mount Kalaga National Park, where it may meet the neighboring State of Gloriana.

Vice-Dale County contains Vice City, Vice Beach and Hamlet. Other revealed parts of the state include Key Lento and Watson Bay in Mariana County, Port Gellhorn in Kelly County, Ambrosia in Ambrosia County, and Waning Sands in Leonard County. These five counties are the known divisions of Leonida.

Leonida's name appears to draw on Spanish conquistador Juan Ponce de Leon, who led the first European expedition to the Florida peninsula. The state is also associated with online Leonida Man stories and moon-landing conspiracy theorists. Vice City and Vice Beach had been referenced by name in earlier Grand Theft Auto titles before Leonida was revealed as their state.
