Cats are domestic Felinae found in the enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto V around Los Santos and Blaine County. They roam urban streets, rest in alleys and sometimes perch on walls. Most remain calm and ignore nearby people, but they flee when disturbed or when gunfire sounds nearby. Several coat patterns appear. During the opening of Franklin and Lamar, a cat waits on a wheelie bin in the alley leading to the 9F Cabrio and Rapid GT, then climbs down and leaves as Franklin approaches.

At the Sandy Shores 24/7, cats can appear outside during clear daytime weather. One sits on the wall beside the building, while up to two others wander nearby or rest in the alley. When Franklin takes Chop for a walk, cats in the area run away from the dog. In the enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto V and in Grand Theft Auto Online, consuming a peyote plant can transform the player into a cat. Grand Theft Auto Online also allows a cat to be bought for a mansion through A Safehouse in the Hills.
