Cougars

Cougars are large wild cats in the Felinae subfamily. In Grand Theft Auto V, they range through the wooded and hilly country of San Andreas, including Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness, Mount Gordo and the land north of Vinewood Hills. Their range also reaches undeveloped ground near the Kortz Center and Banham Canyon, close to Los Santos.

A cougar's growl can be heard before it is seen. Pedestrians may flee when one is nearby. On foot, a person can be attacked without warning as the animal charges, pounces and bites at the throat. Cougars may also run from vehicles or gunfire, and they do not attack someone standing on top of a vehicle.

Grand Theft Auto Online allows a player to become a cougar after consuming peyote. In Director Mode, a player-controlled cougar sends pedestrians running and draws hostility from gang members. An official Grand Theft Auto VI image shows a cougar stalking a herd of deer in Mount Kalaga National Park.
