Old Swindler Blues

John Marston finds Nigel West Dickens wounded beside his stagecoach on the outskirts of Armadillo in Cholla Springs. The travelling salesman is barely able to stand after an attack by customers angered by his remedies. John helps Nigel to his feet and gets him aboard the wagon, but Nigel is in no condition to take the reins. He asks Marston to drive him to a doctor in Armadillo.

John takes control of the stagecoach and heads for town with Nigel lying injured behind him. Before they can reach Armadillo, armed men who hold a grudge against West Dickens ride after the wagon. Marston keeps the coach moving along the road while returning fire at the pursuers, protecting both Nigel and the horses from the attack.

The attackers are left behind, and John brings the stagecoach into Armadillo. Nigel, still hurt but alive, says that he needs time to recover from his wounds. The journey ends in town.
