Player notes

John Marston meets Nigel West Dickens in Armadillo after the salesman has recovered from his injuries. West Dickens has another way to sell his medicine, and asks Marston to drive his wagon to Ridgewood Farm. During the journey, he explains that Marston will pose as an ordinary farmer in the audience before being selected as an apparently chance volunteer. Near the farm, West Dickens has him get down so the crowd will not connect them.

At Ridgewood Farm, Marston joins the locals as West Dickens begins his sales pitch. The con man calls on him to try the elixir, then sets out tests meant to prove its supposed effects. Marston shoots a skull from a distant building, then fires Aquila's hat from the air. The crowd watches as West Dickens presents each feat as evidence of the tonic's power.

Aquila challenges Marston to a fistfight, and Marston defeats him before the farmer produces a gun. Marston disarms Aquila with a shot, ending the confrontation without killing him. West Dickens uses the result to continue his performance before the assembled crowd at Ridgewood Farm.

Trivia

  • โ—†After the mission, West Dickens will remain idle on his wagon. If the player approaches or acts aggressively towards him he will start to run away or shoot at Marston, but cannot be killed. It is then possible to take his wagon, though doing so may incur a bounty.
  • โ—†Earnest Seahorn is the man who helps Aquila up. Earnest is commonly mistaken for Randall Forrester, the cannibal from the Stranger side-mission "American Appetites".
  • โ—†There is a chance that West Dickens may kill a local while riding into the farm by hitting them with his stagecoach.
  • โ—†Among the crowd that gathers around Nigel West Dickens is Alfred Winlock, Earl Driscoll, Bert Venters, Errol Hewitt and Archibald Andrews.
  • โ—†If the player misses the skull on the house, a cutscene will play where John will look upset and Nigel will tell the crowd "He is still getting used to his new vision!"
  • โ—†An unnamed character with John Kelby's Character Model can be seen in the crowd.
  • โ—†Using the Social Club cheat, Punch Out, will cause the player to fail the mission while fighting Aquila as it kills NPCs in one punch.
  • โ—†Since the Dead Eye Meter is infinite during this mission, as Aquila constantly shoots John, he will be invincible in Dead Eye Targeting.
  • โ—†This mission title is a parody of "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor", one of the commandments cited in Exodus 20:16 and Deuteronomy 5:20.
  • โ—†While the game encourages the use of Dead Eye, there is absolutely no requirement to use it whatsoever.
