Nils is a Norwegian toolmaker who immigrates to the United States and settles at Manzanita Post in Tall Trees, West Elizabeth, before 1898. He is associated with Lee and works with metal in the settlement. Nils is highly skilled at his trade, but he speaks almost no English. His known English vocabulary is limited to one answer, "okay", which he uses in place of a fuller conversation.
Nils becomes involved with John Marston while John is arranging supplies for the ranch he intends to build at Beecher's Hope. A set of tools is commissioned from Nils for the construction work. Willard Wayne accompanies John to Manzanita Post to collect the finished equipment, bringing the ranch project to Nils's workshop.
When John and Wayne arrive, Nils has the tools ready. He loads the set onto the back of their wagon, answering in his usual brief English. John and Wayne leave Manzanita Post with the equipment for Beecher's Hope, while Nils remains at the settlement.

- โThe cabin adjacent to where he works in Manzanita Post presumably belongs to him. A newspaper scap and journal page, both in Norwegian, can be found inside it in Red Dead Redemption 2. The cabin can be purchased in Red Dead Redemption as a safehouse by Marston.
