The Jack Hall Gang begins under Jack Hall in California, where its members rob banks before pushing east into New Hanover. Linked to the Otis Miller Boys, the outlaws hide the gold taken in their robberies, intending to return for it later. They never do. Every member is killed before the cache can be recovered, and the gang ceases to exist with its stolen fortune still concealed.
In 1899, Arthur Morgan encounters the Jack Hall Gang only through what it leaves behind. A cigarette card bearing the gang's name belongs to the Famous Gunslingers & Outlaws set. It sits in a small shack at Chez Porter in the West Grizzlies, Ambarino, east of Whimyard Strait. The card records the gang as one of the outlaw names attached to the region's past.
The gang's hidden gold remains somewhere in the wilderness after its members die. Arthur can follow a treasure map connected to their lost cache, retracing the trail left by men who never returned for their share. The search ends when he reaches the buried stolen gold.

- โThey appear to have have been inspired by the Younger Brothers of the James-Younger Gang, who had minor rumors of burying up to $4 million worth of gold in modern money.
- โMembers of the Van der Linde gang while in camp can sing the "Jack Hall" song, which makes numerous references to the actual exploits and members of the James-Younger Gang. The song notably tells the story of the failed 1876 Northfield Bank robbery, which destroyed the gang.
