Arthur finds a mutilated body south of Valentine, hanging beneath the railway bridge. The killer has painted "LOOK ON MY WORKS" nearby and left the victim's severed head close to the scene. Inside it, Arthur discovers part of a map. He later finds two more arranged killings, one southwest of Wallace Station in Big Valley, marked "DO YOU SEE?", and another east of Braithwaite Manor in Scarlett Meadows, marked "BEHOLD". Each head contains another piece.

With all three scraps joined together, Arthur identifies Lucky's Cabin, north of Valentine, as the place shown on the completed map. Snakes scatter around the abandoned cabin as he approaches the cellar entrance and opens it with the code. Below ground, he searches the killer's filthy hideout and examines a knife lodged in a corpse. Edmund emerges and attacks him.

Arthur fights Edmund, overpowers him, and binds him before carrying him back to Valentine on horseback. He brings the murderer into Sheriff Curtis Malloy's office and explains what he has found. As Malloy takes Edmund away, Edmund suddenly breaks free and attacks the sheriff. Arthur shoots Edmund before he can kill Malloy. The dead killer is left on the sheriff's office floor in Valentine.
