About this weapon
The Bow is Wheeler, Rawson and Co.'s signature hunting bow in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online. Treated before leaving the warehouse, it is described as shooting straight without warping. It cannot be customised, and its condition never deteriorates. The weapon holds one arrow at a time, with up to 40 arrows carried.
In Story Mode, Arthur receives the Bow at the start of "The Aftermath of Genesis", when he hunts a deer with Charles. Night Folk and Skinner Brothers also carry and can drop bows during certain events and missions. In Red Dead Online, it becomes available at Rank 14 from any Gunsmith or the Wheeler, Rawson and Co. Catalog for $124.
The Bow is a quiet ranged weapon, suited to careful hunting and stealthy attacks on guarded locations. Its arrows preserve animal organs and valuables better than firearms, though their low speed and limited range make moving targets harder to hit. Regular, Improved, Small Game, Poison, Fire and Dynamite arrows give it different uses, from clean small-game kills and poison hunting to fire, explosives and attacks on people. All but Fire and Dynamite arrows can be recovered.
Trivia
- โWhile holding a bow during close combat, the player may stab the enemy with an arrow and deliver a fatal melee kill.
- โPerforming this with a fire arrow equipped won't ignite the enemy.
- โOne of the game's cut content features a quiver that Arthur can store and pull arrows from. This can be partially seen in the second trailer of the game.
- โSmall Game Arrows are blunt-tipped due being crafted with shotgun shells, and thus are the only arrows that do not penetrate the target.
