John Marston encuentra a Seth Briars removiendo tumbas en el cementerio de Coot's Chapel. Seth busca objetos de valor en el cadáver de Josephine Byrd, aunque pronto habla de un mapa del tesoro que compartía con su antiguo socio, Moses Forth. Moses conserva la otra mitad, y Seth le pide a John que lo acompañe a Benedict Point, donde está retenido.
John cabalga con Seth por Cholla Springs hasta Benedict Point. Allí, Seth señala a dos ayudantes del sheriff junto a la cárcel y explica que necesita mantenerlos ocupados para llegar hasta Moses. Le pide a John que robe el caballo de uno de ellos, mientras él busca la forma de entrar sin que los agentes lo vean.
John se lleva el caballo de un ayudante y sale de Benedict Point con los agentes tras él. Cuando consigue perderlos por el campo, regresa al pueblo. Seth ya ha llegado a Moses y lo deja atado frente a la Telegraph Office. Entrega a John una Pardon Letter y entra en la oficina, mientras Moses sigue tendido en Benedict Point.

Curiosidades
- ◆At the point in the mission where stealing the deputy's horse is required, the player can walk to the back of the shack where Moses is and kill him. This will not register as killing him but will put a bounty on the player's head as if the horse had been taken. The mission will continue as normal.
- ◆This is not possible in the Nintendo Switch version, as killing Moses in this manner will result in a mission failure.
- ◆When Seth gives the player the Pardon Letter and walks inside the Telegraph Office, the player can either kill or untie Moses. Sometimes when shooting Moses in the head, he will stop squirming for a moment, and then resume as though nothing had happened; it takes a second or third shot to finish him off.
- ◆Oddly, Seth will not die if the player shoots him at the start of the mission, he will just stand up and run away.
- ◆If you fail the horse ride too many times, at one point Seth will start talking about how the last thing he ate was a crow, and that it tasted just like a pig his dad killed when he was a child.
