John Marston conoce al Strange Man en Hennigan's Stead. El hombre asegura conocer a John desde sus días con la banda de Van der Linde, pero se niega a explicar quién es. Habla de un amigo que necesita consejo y envía a John a Thieves' Landing. Fuera del saloon, John encuentra al borracho a punto de buscar a una prostituta pese a tener esposa. Puede hacerlo desistir o darle dinero para que siga adelante.
Tras llegar a Nuevo Paraíso, John vuelve a ver al Strange Man en el camino al oeste de El Matadero. Le cuenta que Mother Superior Calderón, en Las Hermanas, tiene un dilema. En el convento, John puede donar dinero para la labor de la monja o robarle. La actitud del Strange Man da a entender que ya sabe qué decisión tomará John.
Cuando los combates en México han terminado, John encuentra al Strange Man por tercera vez a las afueras de Beecher's Hope. El hombre dice que no conoce su propio nombre, que reúne relatos y que mucha gente lo ha condenado. John le exige que revele su identidad, pero no obtiene respuesta.
Furioso y confundido, John desenfunda y dispara contra el Strange Man. Las balas no le hacen nada. El hombre se da la vuelta y se aleja, dejando a John en Beecher's Hope.
Curiosidades
- ◆After speaking to the man for the second mission, he can be pushed onto the fire.
- ◆Despite the man being unharmed by John shooting at him in the final cutscene, it is still possible to kill him outside of cutscenes by simply shooting at him. This will cause the player to fail the mission and to lose honor.
- ◆When meeting the man for the last time, he will repeatedly say "this is a fine spot" as he stands to look over the ranch. This can be a foreshadow as the spot, in particular, is the final resting place of John Marston.
- ◆The nun who John can either donate to or rob is Mother Superior Calderón, who plays a supportive role in the Undead Nightmare DLC and appears in Saint Denis in Red Dead Redemption 2 in 1899.
- ◆This and Remember My Family are the only stranger missions to take place in all three areas (New Austin, Nuevo Paraíso, then West Elizabeth).
- ◆Obviously due to the missable nature of this mission, this is the only Stranger Mission that cannot be done with Jack Marston.
- ◆If John decides to rob the nun in the second part of the stranger mission, she will carry well over three hundred dollars.
