Patrick "Packie" McReary, doublé par Ryan Johnston, est un braqueur, trafiquant de drogue et homme de main indépendant de Liberty City, issu de la McReary Crime Family. Après avoir quitté la ville où il travaillait avec Niko Bellic et d'autres associés criminels, il vit à Los Santos en 2013. Il entre dans l'histoire lors de l'événement aléatoire Getaway Driver, en braquant une pharmacie de Strawberry avec un partenaire non identifié.

Packie demande au protagoniste de passage de leur trouver un véhicule de fuite. S'ils sont emmenés hors de Strawberry et sèment la police, il récompense cette aide en rejoignant le vivier de tireurs pour les braquages de Lester Crest. Son expérience fait de lui l'un des tireurs les plus compétents de l'équipe, bien qu'il réclame une part plus importante que beaucoup des hommes de main disponibles.

Lorsque Michael, Franklin et Trevor l'engagent pour The Jewel Store Job, Packie aide à vider les vitrines dans l'une ou l'autre approche. Il peut ensuite accompagner l'équipe de Sandy Shores à Paleto Bay pour The Paleto Score, où il évoque le braquage de la Bank of Liberty, son défunt frère Derrick et la perte de contact avec Niko. Il combat aux côtés de l'équipe durant la fuite hors de la banque.

Packie est également disponible pour The Bureau Raid. Dans le plan discret, il survit à l'explosion durant la fuite, tandis qu'il accomplit sa tâche dans le plan d'entrée par le toit. Il peut rester avec l'équipe pour l'une ou l'autre version de The Big Score, apportant ses compétences de tireur au braquage final de Los Santos.

Anecdotes

◆Not counting radio characters and celebrities with their different reality versions (e.g. Lazlow Jones), Patrick McReary and Johnny Klebitz are the two characters with the most physical appearances in the series, appearing in five total games.
◆According to Gerald, Packie has a tattoo of his own name on one of his arms, though it is never seen in any game.
◆In GTA IV, Packie's favorite radio station is Liberty Rock Radio and he will respond positively if the player switches to this station whilst in a vehicle, claiming he wants it to play at his funeral. In GTA V, Packie's favorite radio station is Los Santos Rock Radio.
◆He will sometimes refer to Niko as "boyo", which traditionally refers to someone younger than oneself, despite Niko being one year older than Packie. He also calls Franklin, Michael, Trevor and the "kid", though only Franklin and optionally the GTA Online protagonist are younger than him.
◆If playing as Trevor, the player can take Packie and his friend to the Altruist Cult. If taken to the Altruist Cult, Packie will mention how he used to hate going bowling and playing darts in Liberty City, but admits he misses it after spending so much time in Los Santos. As they get closer to the Altruist Camp, he will begin to talk about his friendship with Niko Bellic.
◆Packie seems to have an affinity for reality TV, which he mentions during mission dialogue in GTA IV and in dialogues during the random event encounter while driving up to the Altruist Cult as Trevor in GTA V.
◆If assisted in his random encounter in GTA V, Packie states that his fellow accomplice is the only person that he knows in Los Santos. However, if chosen for The Jewel Store Job (his next possible appearance), he will somewhat contradict this by saying that he has met many people since moving there, speaking of their generally self-centred nature. However, he maybe just doesn't like many people in Los Santos, or has been comparing their attitudes to people from Liberty City.
◆His reappearance in 2019 (in GTA Online) clearly confirms all his possible deaths in GTA V to be non-canon.
◆Additionally, all his voice lines in GTA Online seem to be reused from GTA V, probably due to Ryan Johnston being inactive during the production of The Diamond Casino Heist update.
