John Marston trouve Mario Alcalde en train de battre Eva Cortes devant Casa Madrugada. Eva est la prostituée de Mario, et John intervient avant que l'agression ne se poursuive. Mario accepte de la laisser partir seulement si John paie pour sa liberté. John lui donne l'argent, et Eva le remercie avant de quitter Casa Madrugada pour Las Hermanas.
Quelques jours plus tard, John se rend à Las Hermanas pour demander des nouvelles d'Eva. Dans l'église, Sister Ana lui apprend qu'Eva est partie avec un homme et qu'ils voyageaient en direction de Sepulcro. John suit cette piste depuis l'église jusqu'au cimetière.
À Sepulcro, John trouve Mario en train de déterrer Eva d'une tombe peu profonde. Mario insiste sur le fait qu'il ne l'a pas tuée, affirmant qu'il l'a seulement frappée. John exige qu'il lui rende son argent et provoque Mario en duel. Mario dégaine le premier, mais John l'abat, puis fouille son corps près de la tombe d'Eva.
Anecdotes
- ◆If you walk away at the first encounter, you will fail the mission and have to restart it at a later time. If you kill Mario at the first encounter, the mission will fail. However, Eva and Mario will respawn at the same location several game days later, allowing you to complete the mission.
- ◆If you pull a gun in the church, the nun may get up and walk away and you will fail the mission.
- ◆If you aim a weapon at (or kill) Mario in Sepulcro before the cutscene occurs, the mission will fail and you will have to restart it at a later time.
- ◆If you frighten Eva after buying her freedom (i.e. firing your weapon anywhere) you will fail the mission.
- ◆Similar to "Water and Honesty" you get your money back, and more, at the end of the mission (only if you pay Clyde Evans).
- ◆The name of the cemetery in which you confront Mario is called El Sepulcro, a possible reference to Los Sepulcros, the cemetery featured in another Rockstar game, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
