À Beaver Hollow, Sadie Adler s'entraîne au lancer de couteaux et appelle Arthur Morgan. Elle veut son aide pour éliminer les O'Driscolls restants à Hanging Dog Ranch. Arthur, affaibli par sa maladie, dit qu'il n'a guère envie de régler un autre compte après l'exécution de Colm. Sadie lui rappelle que les O'Driscolls ont assassiné Jake Adler et lui dit qu'il est le seul membre du gang en qui elle a confiance. Arthur accepte, mais demande à Sadie d'aider John Marston, Abigail Roberts et Jack à partir le moment venu. Elle lui donne sa parole.
Arthur et Sadie se rendent dans un petit camp à l'extérieur de Hanging Dog Ranch, dans Big Valley, West Elizabeth. Avant de passer à l'attaque, Sadie demande à Arthur de lui laisser un O'Driscoll corpulent et barbu, qu'elle identifie comme le meurtrier de Jake. Ils attaquent le ranch de côtés opposés. Sadie prend la maison tandis qu'Arthur combat les O'Driscolls autour de la grange, puis élimine les hommes qui s'y trouvent. Des coups de feu venant de la maison attirent Arthur une fois le ranch devenu silencieux.
Arthur entre dans la ferme et monte à l'étage. Il trouve Sadie couverte de sang tandis que l'O'Driscoll barbu recule devant son couteau. Elle le contraint à se mettre à terre et le tue elle-même. Arthur lui demande si elle va bien, et Sadie parle de Jake et de la personne que le chagrin a fait d'elle. Les O'Driscolls de Hanging Dog Ranch étant morts, Sadie laisse Arthur devant la maison pour qu'il reste seul un moment.
Anecdotes
- ◆To acquire the Litchfield Repeater: right after the first cutscene at Hanging Dog Ranch, the player must do an about-face and look for a campsite. The Litchfield will be right next to that site.
- ◆After this mission, Cleet and Joe will appear at camp. Even if this mission is done immediately before the mission "My Last Boy", Arthur will react as if he has seen them before the opening cutscene. If Sadie's request for help is denied, they will not spawn until "My Last Boy".
- ◆What Sadie says to Arthur at the end of the mission depends on the player's Honor. If the player has high Honor, Sadie says to Arthur: "Apart from my Jake, you're the best man I've known." If the player's Honor is low, Sadie instead says: "you're a confusing man, Arthur, but you're the best friend I've got."
- ◆If the player manages to avoid detection by lawmen after the mission completes and the Wanted status is triggered, then times out, the player might observe some of the lawmen putting the corpses of the O'Driscolls on their horses.
- ◆In the third trailer's first cutscene, Arthur has his healthy appearance rather than his sick and underweight appearance. This was likely done to avoid any spoilers.
- ◆If this mission is replayed, there will always be a glitch where twice the amount of enemies are spawned than usual. The only known way to avoid said glitch is to restart the mission from the initial checkpoint. The player will still be able to attain a gold medal.
- ◆Another glitch may occur that prevents the sniper from appearing in the hayloft. The sniper can be killed from inside the barn, and will not react to anything the player does.
- ◆The player is given the option to have Sadie lay down cover fire or provide a distraction, although this can be easily missed during the gunfight.
- ◆As with the missions "The First Shall Be Last" and "Paying a Social Call," the player should refrain from looting everything from the ranch when the mission ends, as they will receive a "wanted" status, prompting lawmen to arrive and investigate.
- ◆After this mission, players will no longer encounter the O'Driscolls during free roam, signifying the gang's destruction.
- ◆The O'Driscolls' hideouts, the Six Point Cabin and Hanging Dog Ranch, became deserted. The latter would be occupied by the Laramie Gang in the Epilogue.
