• ◆This mission bears a few similarities to the real-life Battle of the Little Bighorn:
• ◆In both Redemption 2 and real life, the cause of each battle was a rebellion by Native American tribes who did not want to cede their lands to the American government so they could exploit the former's natural resources.
• ◆The commander of the army during this battle, Colonel Henry Favours, was killed, similar to the fate of Lieutenant Colonel George A. Custer.
• ◆The leader of the tribe that invaded the area, Rains Fall and his natives, were forced to relocate to Canada after the conflict, similar to what happened with Sitting Bull and the natives under his leadership.
• ◆John Marston and Javier Escuella are not credited for participating in this job under the "Gang Savings" section of Arthur's journal. The entry simply reads "A, D, C, B & S" (for Arthur, Dutch, Charles, Bill and Sadie). Charles is still included, despite saying he didn't want his cut, so it's unlikely that it just lists individuals the other half of the take was divided among.
• ◆At the start of this mission, before Eagle Flies rides for the factory, Rains Fall uses the word “implore” to try and convince him to stand down, only to fail. John Marston, who was present nearby, would use this word years later to try and convince Bill Williamson to surrender to the Bureau of Investigation and would also fail.
• ◆There are sixteen braves that ride with Eagle Flies and Paytah into Beaver Hollow to ask for the aid of the Van der Linde gang. However, it seems that more must have joined in at some point, since there are more at the oil fields.
• ◆One is encountered by the gang as they ride in, wounded and riding away from the scene.
• ◆One is seen getting shot behind Eagle Flies as he fights across the bridge while Arthur watches through binoculars.
• ◆Six go down the hill with Arthur, Charles and Sadie. Several bodies are also seen during the ride.
• ◆Five are encountered after Eagle Flies is rescued.
• ◆One is killed near Paytah as he fights a soldier.
• ◆Two are near the factory fighting alongside Dutch's group.
• ◆The number of braves excluding the corpses is exactly sixteen, which points to it being an error caused by the developers not taking into account the dead when placing the ones encountered. It's also possible that the six braves accompanying Arthur in his attack are reinforcements.
• ◆It's possible for this mission to be the first time Cleet and Joe are encountered. They are apparently supposed to spawn after completion of "Mrs. Sadie Adler, Widow - II", though it is possible to complete that mission right before this one, thus making this the first time they appear at camp. Additionally, if Sadie's request for help is refused, the mission will be skipped and the men will still not spawn. Despite this, Arthur will always begin the mission by saying "So why are these two still here?"
• ◆If Arthur doesn't help Eagle Flies to get the soldier off him, Sadie will do it instead.
• ◆If the player fails to shoot Colonel Favours in time, Arthur will be killed when Favours shoots him as he prepares to execute Eagle Flies as well. Additionally, in the fail screen, instead of it giving the traditional "Dead" message, it says "Failed: You have died."
• ◆This is the second or third time that Arthur coughs violently and collapses due to Tuberculosis.
• ◆The first time is in "A Fork in the Road" before the Good Samaritan helps Arthur to the doctor.
• ◆The optional second time is during Charlotte Balfour's second mission.
• ◆An oil wagon can be shot and exploded after Arthur rescues Eagle Flies, located behind the upper walkway.
• ◆Once this mission is completed, Charles Smith, Uncle, Mary-Beth Gaskill, Karen Jones, and Simon Pearson will no longer be at camp; Charles stays with the Wapiti Indians to help them move and, as revealed in the next mission "Our Best Selves", Uncle, Karen, Pearson and Mary-Beth leave to save themselves.
• ◆This mission marks the last time Dutch addresses Arthur as "son", as he beckons him with "come on, son" as they proceed to the factory office. This is also just before he betrays and leaves Arthur to die at the hands of Colonel Favours and his soldiers.
• ◆After Colonel Favours corners Arthur and Dutch in the factory and sends soldiers after them, Arthur does not need to kill them and can run to the other side of the factory to trigger the cutscene.
• ◆Even if Arthur beats Dutch there, Dutch will spawn at the other side of the factory and be seen walking away in the cutscene.
• ◆After this mission, Cornwall Kerosene & Tar and the surrounding oil fields can be freely explored without any guards, but the interiors are closed and boarded up.
• ◆The sequence in the German family's house seems to be a nod to German expressionist cinema, specifically the dark lighting used to show how dark a turn Arthur's journey has taken and how close his death is.
