Na delegacia de Blackwater, John Marston pergunta a Edgar Ross quando poderá rever a família. Ross se recusa a responder e afirma que primeiro precisam acabar com Dutch Van Der Linde. Ross e Archer Fordham levam John a um acampamento do Exército nos arredores da cidade, onde soldados preparam um carro blindado equipado com uma Browning Gun. John sobe no veículo e assume a arma enquanto o comboio parte com o Exército.
A gangue de Dutch ataca o acampamento, e John usa a Browning Gun contra os invasores enquanto os soldados resistem. Os homens que sobrevivem recuam para Tall Trees. O carro blindado sai em perseguição pelas estradas da floresta, levando John, Ross e Fordham. Integrantes da gangue disparam das rochas e lançam dinamite contra o veículo, mas ele continua avançando.
Durante a perseguição por Tall Trees, os homens de Dutch mandam uma diligência carregada de TNT na direção do carro blindado. John a destrói antes que ela alcance o veículo. Curiosidades
- ◆Judging by Ross' words, it can be inferred the armored car is an early design for the armored cars and eventually tanks that were used in World War I. The armored car design itself may refer to Minerva Model 1914 Belgian armored car, judging by engine deck and headlights.
- ◆At the Army camp, the US flag being used is the current model instead of the flag that would have been flown at the time.
- ◆At the beginning of the level (in the cutscene) you can see a picture of what appears to be the Strange Man hung up in the stairs at the police station, just like in Beecher's Hope.
- ◆The title of the mission (and the one following) is most likely a reference to the Bible passage John 8:32 - "For you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free". This is also the motto of the CIA.
- ◆Ross' use of the army is illegal, but since Dutch's Gang attacked their camp the ensuing conflict becomes an official military search and destroy mission.
- ◆Firing the gatling gun nearby the soldiers before the battle will cause them to run away in fear.
- ◆The mission's loading screen image depicts John atop the armored car in front of the pier at Blackwater, but curiously the Morningstar ferry is docked behind him. In actuality, the ferry is never seen again after Exodus in America.
