Alla stazione di polizia di Blackwater, John Marston chiede a Edgar Ross quando potrà rivedere la sua famiglia. Ross si rifiuta di dargli una risposta, insistendo sul fatto che prima bisogna occuparsi di Dutch Van Der Linde. Ross e Archer Fordham portano John a un accampamento dell'Esercito fuori città, dove i soldati preparano un veicolo blindato dotato di una Browning Gun. John sale a bordo e prende il controllo dell'arma mentre il veicolo parte con l'Esercito.
La banda di Dutch attacca l'accampamento e John usa la Browning Gun per falciare gli assalitori, mentre i soldati mantengono le posizioni. I membri superstiti della banda ripiegano verso Tall Trees. Il veicolo blindato li insegue lungo le strade della foresta, con Ross, Fordham e John a bordo. Curiosità
- ◆Judging by Ross' words, it can be inferred the armored car is an early design for the armored cars and eventually tanks that were used in World War I. The armored car design itself may refer to Minerva Model 1914 Belgian armored car, judging by engine deck and headlights.
- ◆At the Army camp, the US flag being used is the current model instead of the flag that would have been flown at the time.
- ◆At the beginning of the level (in the cutscene) you can see a picture of what appears to be the Strange Man hung up in the stairs at the police station, just like in Beecher's Hope.
- ◆The title of the mission (and the one following) is most likely a reference to the Bible passage John 8:32 - "For you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free". This is also the motto of the CIA.
- ◆Ross' use of the army is illegal, but since Dutch's Gang attacked their camp the ensuing conflict becomes an official military search and destroy mission.
- ◆Firing the gatling gun nearby the soldiers before the battle will cause them to run away in fear.
- ◆The mission's loading screen image depicts John atop the armored car in front of the pier at Blackwater, but curiously the Morningstar ferry is docked behind him. In actuality, the ferry is never seen again after Exodus in America.
