Mama Watson é a matriarca idosa e severa dos Watson Boys, uma pequena gangue de fora da lei formada com seus filhos Elijah, Ethan, Edgar e Ezra. Antes de 1898, ela passa a viver em Watson's Cabin, em Big Valley, West Elizabeth, entre Wallace Station e Hanging Dog Ranch. Ela também conhece homens chamados Walker e Wheeler, além dos Russell boys. Impaciente e desconfiada, costuma confundir estranhos com homens que espera ver trabalhando para ela.
Em Red Dead Online, o protagonista encontra Mama Watson em sua cabana. Sem se intimidar com a visita, ela oferece ensopado e pede ajuda para libertar associados fora da lei de uma carroça de prisão. Depois disso, torna-se um contato para outros serviços criminosos, enviando o protagonista para assassinatos, interceptações e fugas de prisão. Ela permanece em Watson's Cabin enquanto coloca outras pessoas para executar os negócios da gangue.
Em 1899, Arthur Morgan pode encontrar Mama Watson dentro da cabana. Ela acredita que ele seja um de seus homens e manda que leve o que trouxe para o porão, onde ele encontra uma Semi-Auto Shotgun. Ao perceber o engano, ela o expulsa e parte em seu burro, ameaçando chamar os filhos. Se Arthur voltar, os Watson Boys o enfrentam. Mama Watson pode sobreviver a eles, mas, se continuar viva após os encontros, seu corpo acaba apodrecendo na cama. John Marston pode passar pela mesma situação no epílogo caso Arthur nunca a encontre.

- ◆Despite being an enemy and outlaw herself, Players get low honor sound if they shoot or kill her any other way as Arthur or John.
- ◆She and her sons appear to be inspired by the characters, the Daltons, from the Lucky Luke comics. The gang also had their mother as their de facto leader.
- ◆She is also possibly based on infamous 1930s outlaw Ma Parker also known as Ma Baker. She had 4 sons who did her bidding.
- ◆If the player kills Mama Watson's sons and runs away from her, she will pursue the player on a random horse.
- ◆Even if the player as Arthur in 1899 does not kill Mama Watson while entering her house and never returns to it as Arthur (so that he never ends up killing her sons) and only revisits it as John in 1907, she will still be found dead in her bed, despite the fact that her breadwinners were never killed by the player. Though, it's possible she died eventually due to old age. As to why she was left to rot in her bed and not buried, it's unknown.
- ◆Before giving a robbery mission in Red Dead Online, Mama Watson will occasionally express contempt for Colm O'Driscoll and his gang, while sending the player out to steal a score that they likely intended to hit.
- ◆When either Arthur or John meets Mama Watson for the first time, she will greet them with "Which one are you again? Walker, Wheeler?" This is a possible reference to controversial country singer Wheeler Walker Jr.
- ◆If either Arthur or John approaches Mama Watson's grave, they will say: "Couldn't have happened to a nicer lady."
- ◆Before entering the cabin, the player can hear Mama Watson coughing inside her house. This will continue until Arthur gets inside the shack.
