Mama Watson is the elderly, stern matriarch of the Watson Boys, a small outlaw gang formed with her sons Elijah, Ethan, Edgar and Ezra. Before 1898, she settles at Watson's Cabin in Big Valley, West Elizabeth, between Wallace Station and Hanging Dog Ranch. She also knows men called Walker and Wheeler, along with the Russell boys. Her manner is impatient and suspicious, and she mistakes strangers for people she expects to be working for her.
In Red Dead Online, the protagonist finds Mama Watson at her cabin. Unfazed by the visitor, she offers stew and asks for help freeing some of her outlaw associates from a jail wagon. Once that work is done, she becomes a contact for further criminal jobs, sending the protagonist on assassinations, interceptions and prison breaks. She remains at Watson's Cabin while using others to carry out the gang's business.
In 1899, Arthur Morgan can meet Mama Watson inside the cabin. Thinking he is one of her men, she orders him to put his haul in the cellar, where he finds a Semi-Auto Shotgun. When she sees her mistake, she drives him away and leaves on her donkey, threatening to fetch her sons. If Arthur returns, the Watson Boys confront him. Mama Watson may survive them, but if she is left alive after the encounters, her body later lies rotting in her bed. John Marston can face the same situation during the epilogue if Arthur never meets her.

- โDespite being an enemy and outlaw herself, Players get low honor sound if they shoot or kill her any other way as Arthur or John.
- โShe and her sons appear to be inspired by the characters, the Daltons, from the Lucky Luke comics. The gang also had their mother as their de facto leader.
- โShe is also possibly based on infamous 1930s outlaw Ma Parker also known as Ma Baker. She had 4 sons who did her bidding.
- โIf the player kills Mama Watson's sons and runs away from her, she will pursue the player on a random horse.
- โEven if the player as Arthur in 1899 does not kill Mama Watson while entering her house and never returns to it as Arthur (so that he never ends up killing her sons) and only revisits it as John in 1907, she will still be found dead in her bed, despite the fact that her breadwinners were never killed by the player. Though, it's possible she died eventually due to old age. As to why she was left to rot in her bed and not buried, it's unknown.
- โBefore giving a robbery mission in Red Dead Online, Mama Watson will occasionally express contempt for Colm O'Driscoll and his gang, while sending the player out to steal a score that they likely intended to hit.
- โWhen either Arthur or John meets Mama Watson for the first time, she will greet them with "Which one are you again? Walker, Wheeler?" This is a possible reference to controversial country singer Wheeler Walker Jr.
- โIf either Arthur or John approaches Mama Watson's grave, they will say: "Couldn't have happened to a nicer lady."
- โBefore entering the cabin, the player can hear Mama Watson coughing inside her house. This will continue until Arthur gets inside the shack.
