In 3671 Whispymound Drive in Vinewood Hills besucht Tanisha Franklin und erzählt ihm, dass Stretch Lamar den Ballas ausgeliefert hat. Lamar wird im Paleto Forest Sawmill festgehalten. Franklin ärgert sich darüber, Lamar schon wieder aus einem Schlamassel retten zu müssen, doch Tanisha bittet ihn, es für sie zu tun, und er stimmt zu. Auf dem Weg nach Paleto Bay ruft Franklin Lester an, der Berichte über eine von einer Gang betriebene Grasoperation im Sägewerk findet. Franklin bittet Lester, Michael und Trevor hinzuzuziehen, da die Ballas ihm zahlenmäßig überlegen sein werden.

Franklin trifft Michael und Trevor außerhalb des Sägewerks, und die drei Männer nehmen getrennte Angriffspositionen rund um das Gelände ein. Die Kontrolle wechselt zwischen Franklin, Michael und Trevor, während sie das Feuer auf die Ballas eröffnen und sich durch das Sägewerk kämpfen. Sie schalten die Bewaffneten bei den Gebäuden aus, finden Lamar nahe der gegenüberliegenden Seite des Sägewerks und erreichen ihn. Nachdem Lamar befreit ist, kämpft sich die Gruppe wieder zum Ausgang zurück, als eine weitere Truppe Ballas eintrifft. Sobald der Weg frei ist, fahren Michael und Trevor davon und überlassen Franklin die Aufgabe, Lamar nach Hause zu bringen.

Während der Fahrt zu Lamars Haus in Forum Drive kommen Franklin und Lamar zu dem Schluss, dass Stretch seit dem Gefängnis mit den Ballas zusammenarbeitet und Lamar hereingelegt hat, um sich zu beweisen. Am Haus gibt Franklin Lamar $50 und sagt ihm, er solle das Gangsterleben hinter sich lassen, doch Lamar wirft Franklin vor, ihn im Stich gelassen und ihm nichts für Devin Westons Autos bezahlt zu haben. Franklin erwidert, dass Devin keinen von ihnen bezahlt habe. Als Franklin geht, stellen Steve Haines und Dave Norton ihn zur Rede und befehlen ihm, Trevor zu töten. Franklin weigert sich und sagt ihnen, sie sollten Michael einsetzen, doch Dave erklärt, Trevor werde Michael in seiner Nähe nicht vertrauen. Haines und Norton fahren davon, und Franklin sagt Lamar, er solle die Sache ihm überlassen.

Wissenswertes

  • ◆This mission is similar to Hostile Negotiation in GTA IV, Death Row in GTA Vice City and Search and Rescue in GTA Liberty City Stories, as they involve killing several enemies surrounding a building to save an associate of the protagonist.
  • ◆This mission is also similar to The Green Sabre in GTA San Andreas, as both missions involve the protagonist saving the deuteragonist shortly after discovering through a close associate that one of their longtime friends has aligned himself with the Ballas.
  • ◆Both scenarios also involve an ambush set up by the Ballas.
  • ◆A brief part of this mission, showing Franklin assaulting from the first position with an AP Pistol, is seen in the gameplay trailer.
  • ◆If the player drives past the sawmill without going to the yellow marker, the shootout will automatically trigger even if Franklin did not meet Michael and Trevor beforehand.
  • ◆Regardless of what vehicle Franklin drives to the sawmill, his Buffalo S may appear alongside the other protagonists' personal vehicles.
  • ◆When Franklin is watching over the sawmill with the binoculars, Lamar will be wearing his normal green shirt. But when the player finds Lamar, he will be wearing a black T-shirt.
  • ◆If Franklin wears Families colors, a Ballas member will yell "He's from The Families, get him!"
  • ◆When the player returns to Franklin's vehicle after rescuing Lamar, the radio station will be tuned to West Coast Classics and the song "You Know How We Do It" by Ice Cube will always play.
  • ◆If the player goes back to the place the protagonists meet, Michael and Trevor's cars will be there. The player can access them, but destroying them will cause the mission to fail.
  • ◆After saving Lamar from an sawmill, the player can take Michael's taligater and Trevor's truck for not falling the mission to take it from saving Lamar.
  • ◆When Franklin asks Steve Haines about what he wants from him, sarcastically asking if Haines wants him to kill the president, Haines replies that it's "something more sensible", which is foreshadowing Ending A, which is also given by Haines.
  • ◆If the player switches to Michael after this mission, he will be driving home on the freeway and making a comment on the distance between Los Santos and Paleto Bay. If the player switches to Trevor after this mission, he will be driving home as well, but singing "If you go out in the woods today, be prepared for a big surprise...", a line from the children's song "The Teddy Bears Picnic".
  • ◆If the player checks Stretch's Lifeinvader page after this mission, they will see that Lamar has posted on his wall, saying that he's ending their friendship for good.
  • ◆Furthermore, Lamar will also post on Tanisha's wall thanking her for sending Franklin to help him out.
  • ◆It is possible to do this mission without hearing the phone call Michael receives from Dave after The Wrap Up, therefore missing the first discussion regarding killing Trevor.
