Der Nokota ist eine kleine Pferderasse der Race-Klasse in Red Dead Redemption 2 und verfügt über Race-Handling. Er bevorzugt Geschwindigkeit und Beschleunigung gegenüber Gesundheit und Ausdauer, und sein reaktionsschnelles, wendiges Handling eignet sich für schnelle Reisen über kurze Distanzen. Unter den Rennpferden können Tempo und Beschleunigung mit vielen anderen Rassen der Klasse mithalten, während die geringere Ausdauer ihn weniger für langes, anstrengendes Reiten geeignet macht.
Gewöhnliche Nokotas erscheinen in der Wildnis. Pferde mit Blue Roan und White Roan Fell finden sich in den zentralen Heartlands von New Hanover, nördlich von Armadillo oder nahe Fort Mercer in New Austin. Die Rasse hat die gewöhnlichen Fellvarianten Blue Roan, White Roan, Reverse Dapple Roan und Scarred Blue Roan. Eine gewöhnliche Fellvariante ist käuflich erhältlich, während die anderen wild gefunden werden.
Karen Jones reitet 1899 während ihrer Zeit bei der Gang einen einzigartigen Smoky Black Nokota namens Old Belle, der im Lager der Gang bleibt. Charles Smiths Grey Roan Sabino Nokota Falmouth befindet sich 1907 vor "American Venom" bei Beecher's Hope. Während "Home Improvement for Beginners" reißen Falmouth und Uncles Pferd Nell IV die Hütte nieder, die auf dem Land von Beecher's Hope gestanden hatte.

- ◆The Scarred Blue Roan found in Murfree Brood Random Encounters will be underweight and have empty cores when first acquired, likely due to their poor treatment by the Murfrees. Despite being labelled as a Nokota, this horse uses a slightly modified version of the Appaloosa model.
- ◆The scarred horses are considered special by the game, and as such cannot be sold to Clay Davies because he "doesn't want to deal with the owner".
- ◆The two encounters that include the Scarred Blue Roan are as follows: one involves the Murfrees with a wagon full of corpses and a woman, with a 1/3 chance of the Blue Roan spawning. The other method involves setting up a campfire in Murfree country and there may be a random encounter where the Murfrees will talk down to the player and ride away on the Scarred Blue Roan and Scarred Blanket Appaloosa.

Brushing the horse will clean up the wounds, but the arrows will only be removed when the horse's model is refreshed (typically occurs when visiting a stable, reloading the game, or during specific missions).

- ◆The White Roan Nokota appears to be a maximum sabino overo with a mane and tail that is not sun-bleached. While the eyes are brown, the intro cutscene to "My Last Boy" features a unique variant that has blue eyes instead.
- ◆The Reverse Dapple Roan is a black base blue roan featuring reverse dappling.
- ◆The Scarred Blue Roan Nokota is a darker version of the Blue Roan, featuring the same markings albeit with numerous deep wounds that have penetrated the skin.
- ◆The Gray Roan Sabino is based off an actual graying sabino that was either a chestnut originally, or had an extensively sun-bleached mane and tail. Like the reference, this features a skull face marking and four socks. Neither display any noticeable roan characteristics, although the gray gene overwrites roaning as the horse ages.
- ◆The Smoky Black Nokota is in actuality a graying horse with what is likely a bay base and a sun-bleached mane and tail. "Bloody marks" (areas of the fur with heavy red pigmentation) can be observed on the shoulder and legs.
