Trivia

  • โ—†Unlike Independence FM in GTA IV and , Self Radio doesn't show up in the radio wheel when the game hasn't scanned the songs in the User Music folder or when there aren't any songs present.
  • โ—†It appears after completing missions Prologue and Franklin and Lamar, as checking after Prologue and checking radio stations in Franklin's debut mission suggests that the User Music folder appears after.
  • โ—†Players will not be able to listen to other player's songs played in a vehicle, as the songs will always play the player's own songs inside. In addition, if the player is in the passenger seat and tries to tune in to Self Radio, but the driver does not have any songs added, the radio will automatically switch to Los Santos Rock Radio.
  • โ—†The song metadata (such as the artist name and song title) is shown when opening up the radio wheel, but not inside some cars where both artist name and song title are displayed on the screen (such as the Asea and Vacca).
  • โ—†This has been fixed in the DLC.
  • โ—†If there is no metadata associated with a song, then on the radio wheel (and on car radio screens that show artist and song name), the only information displayed when hovering over Self Radio is the radio name, similarly to commercial breaks on other stations.
  • โ—†If a Snapmatic photo is taken while a song is playing on Self Radio nearby, the song's artist & title (if attached) won't show up in the photo gallery, unlike other stations where it normally would.
  • โ—†Self Radio songs can't be added to a clip with the Rockstar Editor.
  • โ—†If the name of the player's song or artist title is too long, it won't be fully displayed due to a 31-character limit, despite the same problem with tracks on different stations being fixed by scrolling the info.
  • โ—†If the song's name contains foreign characters (e.g. Japanese), it will be shown in squares due to the game not recognizing foreign characters from different languages (this does not apply to Germanic characters though, as they are supported in-game).
  • โ—†There is a frequent bug when the same song plays two times in a row on Self Radio. This is possible when Self Radio is on "Random" mode, causing the game to pick the same song again.
  • โ—†The commentary that said "Well, you stole it", pokes fun at the fact that players will often pirate music online rather than purchase it legally.
  • โ—†Songs played on Self Radio have lower volume compared to songs playing on other radio stations.
  • โ—†Self Radio cannot be removed/added from the 'Favorite Radio Stations' section in the Interaction Menu.
