Reefer

The Reefer is a two-seat motorboat classed as a shipping and fishing vessel. Across its Grand Theft Auto appearances, it takes the form of a large downeast New England sport-fishing boat, drawing on vessels such as the Duffy 38' and Wesmac 42'. Its long hull carries bow rails, a cabin with square windows, an open rear area and fishing equipment. Later versions add a crane and net reel at the stern, reinforcing its working-boat role.

In Grand Theft Auto IV, the Reefer is redesigned around the Orca from the 1975 film Jaws. It has an all-white hull, a wooden deck, a long bow pulpit and a more enclosed cabin with rectangular windscreens. Harpoons hang beside the cabin, while propane tanks, ropes, fenders and a fishing crane fill out the rear section. The helm is positioned centrally inside the cabin. A single inboard engine drives one propeller and produces a low-revving sound.

The Reefer is durable but slow, with weak acceleration and stiff handling compared with faster boats. Its size and solidity let it ram or overturn other vessels without taking much damage, but its limited speed and maneuverability make it exposed during a police pursuit. The boat has been used for waterborne escapes, trips to jetties and mission transport, including Claude, Maria and Asuka's crossing from Portland to Staunton Island in Last Requests.
