Player notes
John Marston finds Irish in Armadillo with his head forced into a horse trough by two men, French and Welsh, who intend to kill him. John shoots the pair and pulls Irish out of trouble. He asks whether Irish can locate a Gatling Gun for the planned attack on Fort Mercer. Irish says that he can, and agrees to lead John to it.
Irish rides with John across New Austin toward Lake Don Julio, talking up the weapon and the arrangement. They reach a rise overlooking a shack where the Gatling Gun is supposedly kept. Irish spots armed guards around the building and immediately slips away, leaving John to deal with the men protecting the place.
John makes his way down to the shack under fire and kills the guards outside. More men emerge near the building, including one carrying a Double-barreled Shotgun. After clearing them out, John takes the shotgun and enters the shack at Lake Don Julio.

- โThe name of this mission derives from jokes popular in Europe, particularly Great Britain, with the basic setup of "an Englishman, an Irishman, and a Scotsman", although the men's nationalities vary depending on the country in which the joke is being told and the stereotype being used. Generally, the English and French are haughty/elitist, the Scots and Welsh are stingy/ill-tempered, and the Irish are stupid/childlike, though there are many jokes where the Irishman ends up coming out on top.
- โIronically, these jokes are very popular in Ireland, where they have a beginning like "The Englishman, The Scotsman and Paddy the Irishman..." (Paddy being a common slang term for Irish people, as well as a nickname for people with the name "Patrick.")
- โJohn Marston could be considered the eponymous Scotsman of the joke, considering his heritage and low tolerance for Irish's stupidity.
- โMarston cannot hogtie Welsh or French, or even hit them with the lasso.
- โIf Marston gets close enough with the revolver and fires, he may run into one of the two assailants while shooting the gun. If the player has already killed one of them, the cutscene will trigger but Marston will yell battle dialogue even though the cutscene has started.
- โBefore starting the mission, if the player walks to the door opposite to the door marked with an , it is possible to peek into the barn. Doing so will reveal that Irish, French, and Welsh are standing still around the water trough, but the sound effects of water-splashing and Irish yelling can still be heard. If the player fires a shot at them, they will shoot back and come out of the barn. This will turn into a shootout with the lawmen. That way it is possible to hogtie Welsh.
- โDuring the shootout on Lake Don Julio, many players often lose their steed after dismounting it, from their horse either falling off the cliff leading to the cabin or simply walking into the lake and drowning. This can be troublesome, especially if the player is trying to unlock the achievement "Spurred To Victory", which requires them to use the same mount through 20 story missions.
- โIt is impossible to complete this mission without gaining the Double-barreled Shotgun. Even if the player drags the NPC away from the door with the lasso and walks past him and avoids the shotgun, it will automatically be present in their inventory once the mission is complete.
