Player notes

At Tumbleweed, Seth Briars leads John Marston toward an old mansion where he believes his treasure is hidden. Armed men occupy the deserted town and the house, so Seth asks John to clear a path. John follows him through Tumbleweed, fighting the gang members who block their way to the mansion.

The front of the building is sealed off, forcing Seth and John to enter through its basement doors. John kills the men waiting below and pushes through the cramped rooms of the mansion. Seth stays close as John fights his way upstairs, where more gunmen have taken up positions on the second floor.

In an upstairs room, Seth finally reaches the place he has been seeking. He uncovers a glass eye and treats the small object as his long lost treasure. John is left watching Seth celebrate his discovery inside the mansion at Tumbleweed.

Trivia

  • โ—†The title of this mission, "Let the Dead Bury Their Dead", is a quote from Jesus in Matthew 8:22 and Luke 9:60 when talking with an unnamed disciple about following him and going and proclaiming the kingdom of God.
  • โ—†People at camp sites occasionally talk about a family that was eaten by a ghost in Tumbleweed and that all that was left was a glass eye. The eye Seth found may be related to the camp fire story.
  • โ—†Ironically, in the basement, Seth walks past the real treasure for Treasure Hunter Rank 4.
  • โ—†As of June 2014, multiple players have confirmed that after the last cutscene of the mission, they can hear a Zombie Marston growl made by Marston.
  • โ—†In Undead Nightmare the glass eye is one of the rumored sources of the plague.
  • โ—†Additionally, in the DLC, after John clears out the graveyards and returns to Seth, the latter swallows the glass eye.
