Justice in Pike's Basin

John Marston enters Marshal Leigh Johnson's office in Armadillo to speak with him. Their meeting is interrupted when Deputy Eli reports that cattle rustlers have been sighted in Pike's Basin, northeast of town. The raiders have taken Mr. Gulch's cattle and ranch hands into the basin. Johnson immediately calls on John, Eli and Deputy Jonah to ride with him and bring them back.

Johnson leads the group out of Armadillo and across New Austin to Pike's Basin. At the entrance, they leave their horses and advance on foot into the rocky hideout. Members of the Bollard Twins Gang open fire from the paths and higher ground. John fights alongside the Marshal and deputies as they force their way through the basin, moving past gang camps and across the narrow wooden bridges between its ridges.

The gang continues to resist from the surrounding cliffs as the lawmen press toward its final camp. John and the others reach the enclosure where the stolen cattle and kidnapped ranch hands are being held, then clear out the remaining Bollard Twins without harming the captives. With the ranch hands freed and the cattle recovered, Eli tells John that Nigel West Dickens has disappeared and the townspeople cannot find him. The group remains in Pike's Basin.
