The Burning

At MacFarlane's Ranch, Bonnie MacFarlane tells John Marston that her father, Drew MacFarlane, has not returned from riding over the land. John rides out with her to search New Austin. They find Drew surrounded by dead men, and he believes rustlers are responsible. Shaken by the sight, Drew asks John to return to the ranch and bring back a wagon for the bodies.

John and Bonnie ride back to MacFarlane's Ranch, where they find the barn burning. Bonnie identifies Williamson's gang as the attackers, acting against her family for helping John after he was wounded. With horses trapped inside, John climbs the windmill and makes his way across the outside of the burning building to reach an upper entrance.

Inside the barn, John removes the pitchfork holding the door shut and drives two horses out through the opening. Fire and wreckage block the final horse's route, so John mounts it and rides it through the obstacle to safety. He brings the horse to the stable, where Bonnie waits at MacFarlane's Ranch.
