Algie Davison

Algie Davison is an American fisherman living with his son Nate at Catfish Jacksons in Scarlett Meadows, Lemoyne. Gambling and drink leave him indebted to Leopold Strauss and unable to support the household. His wife leaves after Algie's drunken abuse. Nate remains with him, but protests that Algie wastes whatever money he gets and resents the violence his father directs at him. Algie nevertheless regards Nate as his only remaining family.

Arthur Morgan first encounters Algie while collecting the debt for Strauss during "Money Lending and Other Sins V". Algie is drinking by the lake when Arthur reaches Catfish Jacksons. He begrudgingly brings Arthur into the house, has Nate prepare drinks and searches beneath the sink, producing a box he claims holds the payment. Whether Arthur takes the box or the drink, Algie attacks. Arthur defeats him, then asks Nate for the money, and Nate settles his father's debt.

Algie can also confront Arthur during robberies of Catfish Jacksons. At first, Nate argues with his father about their lack of food, Algie's gambling and the loss of their mother, before Algie strikes him. In later visits, Algie may be unconscious outside, come into the house after Nate calls for him, or sit inside and challenge Arthur himself. Once Algie is subdued, Nate directs Arthur to money hidden in the chimney or in Algie's room.

After Arthur has taken what remains at the homestead, Algie may already be dead when Arthur returns, leaving Nate to attack with a knife. If Nate has died instead, Algie sits drunk in the house, mourns his son and blames himself for failing both Nate and his wife. He breaks down over Nate's death, then attacks Arthur on sight when he returns to Catfish Jacksons.
