Player notes

At Shady Belle, Leopold Strauss sends Arthur Morgan after another unpaid loan. The debtor is Algie Davison, a fisherman living at Catfish Jacksons. Arthur's coughing interrupts the conversation before he sets out for the property.

Arthur finds Algie asleep beside the water at Catfish Jacksons. Algie wakes and leads him into the house, claiming he will hand over the debt. In the kitchen, Algie tells his son Nate to prepare a drink while he searches beneath the sink for a cash box. Arthur can accept the tea or take the empty box from Algie. Either response exposes Algie's deception, and he attacks Arthur, sometimes with a knife.

Arthur puts Algie down as Nate runs to his bedroom. Inside, Arthur finds Nate hiding under the bed. Nate pleads with him, then admits that he concealed money from his father in his footlocker. Arthur takes the cash and leaves Catfish Jacksons, returning to Shady Belle with Strauss's collection.

Trivia

  • โ—†When Strauss assigns this mission, Arthur can be seen noticeably coughing, foreshadowing his later diagnosis with tuberculosis.
  • โ—†It is possible to kill or knockout Algie while he is still sitting near the river, then ask Nate for the money location later.
  • โ—†Players can also kill or knockout both Algie and Nate and collect the money inside Nate's foot locker directly.
  • โ—†Both actions will result in a loss of honor.
  • โ—†If the player robs Catfish Jacksons beforehand, Algie will recognize them and comment on it during this mission.
  • โ—†Sometimes, a bug may occur where neither Algie nor Nate spawn, regardless of whether the player has already robbed the house or not. In this case, upon reaching the property, the mission will simply prompt the player to search the house for the debt money. The player can walk to the chest beside the bed, retrieve the money, and the mission will be completed.
  • โ—†The soundtrack that plays during the mission is also used in "The First Shall Be Last".
