À Shady Belle, Leopold Strauss envoie Arthur Morgan récupérer un autre prêt impayé. Le débiteur est Algie Davison, un pêcheur vivant à Catfish Jacksons. La toux d'Arthur interrompt la conversation avant qu'il ne parte pour la propriété.
Arthur trouve Algie endormi près de l'eau à Catfish Jacksons. Algie se réveille et le conduit dans la maison, affirmant qu'il va lui remettre l'argent dû. Dans la cuisine, Algie demande à son fils Nate de préparer une boisson pendant qu'il cherche une caisse d'argent sous l'évier. Arthur peut accepter le thé ou prendre la boîte vide à Algie. Quelle que soit sa réponse, la tromperie d'Algie est révélée et il attaque Arthur, parfois avec un couteau.
Arthur abat Algie tandis que Nate court dans sa chambre. À l'intérieur, Arthur trouve Nate caché sous le lit. Nate le supplie, puis admet avoir caché de l'argent à son père dans son coffre. Arthur prend l'argent et quitte Catfish Jacksons, retournant à Shady Belle avec la somme récupérée pour Strauss.
Anecdotes
- ◆When Strauss assigns this mission, Arthur can be seen noticeably coughing, foreshadowing his later diagnosis with tuberculosis.
- ◆It is possible to kill or knockout Algie while he is still sitting near the river, then ask Nate for the money location later.
- ◆Players can also kill or knockout both Algie and Nate and collect the money inside Nate's foot locker directly.
- ◆Both actions will result in a loss of honor.
- ◆If the player robs Catfish Jacksons beforehand, Algie will recognize them and comment on it during this mission.
- ◆Sometimes, a bug may occur where neither Algie nor Nate spawn, regardless of whether the player has already robbed the house or not. In this case, upon reaching the property, the mission will simply prompt the player to search the house for the debt money. The player can walk to the chest beside the bed, retrieve the money, and the mission will be completed.
- ◆The soundtrack that plays during the mission is also used in "The First Shall Be Last".
