Leopold Strauss envoie Arthur Morgan depuis Beaver Hollow récupérer deux prêts impayés. Arthur se rend d'abord à Three Sisters, où J. John Weathers admet n'avoir pas d'argent et propose à la place les provisions de sa charrette. Avant qu'Arthur puisse décider quoi prendre, des soldats de l'US Army arrivent pour arrêter Weathers pour désertion. Arthur aide Weathers à les repousser, tandis que la charrette prend feu et que ses réserves d'hiver sont perdues.
Après la fusillade, Weathers appelle la femme enceinte autochtone qui voyage avec lui. Arthur constate que le couple n'a plus rien et regrette de ne pas avoir simplement aidé à réparer la charrette. Weathers propose un médaillon d'argent en paiement. Arthur peut l'accepter ou annuler la dette, puis dit à Weathers d'emmener la femme en lieu sûr avant de quitter Three Sisters.
Arthur se rend à la mine d'Annesburg à la recherche d'Arthur Londonderry, pour apprendre du contremaître que Londonderry est mort. Le contremaître l'envoie à Sawbone Clearing, où se trouvent la veuve de Londonderry et son fils. Elle explique que son mari s'est tué au travail en tentant d'honorer ses dettes et que la famille risque de perdre sa maison. Arthur peut effacer ce qui est dû, avec ou sans lui donner de l'argent, et s'excuse tandis qu'elle rentre à l'intérieur.
Honteux du travail que Strauss l'a forcé à faire, Arthur retourne à Beaver Hollow et le confronte. Il rassemble les affaires de Strauss et dit qu'il ne le tuera pas, même s'il pense le devoir. Arthur condamne Strauss pour s'en prendre aux gens désespérés, lui jette de l'argent et lui ordonne de quitter le gang. Strauss quitte Beaver Hollow avec son sac.

- ◆During Part VI, there are four bits of foreshadowing quotes that Arthur will remember during his final ride to camp in the "Red Dead Redemption" mission depending on his Honor.

- ◆If Arthur does not collect the debt after starting the mission for Strauss, he will confront Arthur for not getting the money then he will leave the camp because of their situation.
- ◆If Arthur kicks Strauss out at night, Simon Pearson and Susan Grimshaw will wake up scared and move out of the way as Arthur is pushing Strauss towards their beds where he packs his bag.
- ◆After completing the mission, Micah will scold Arthur for kicking Strauss out. Abigail, Jack, Mary-Beth, and Pearson will question about his disappearance, whereas Susan won’t question Arthur’s decision, stating that she understands. Sadie and Swanson would be glad that he is gone. Bill and Tilly will question Arthur if he will kick one of them out like he did to Strauss, to which Arthur will assure the latter that he will not.
- ◆If Arthur follows Strauss after being kicked out of the gang, he will see Strauss and his horse disappear instantly, leaving behind his bag.
- ◆If you are fast enough or use mods, you can kill Strauss and his horse, but doing so will decrease the player's honor by 50%. This is the only instance in the game where the player's honor decreases by such a significant amount.
